Polar Bear Ride - This ride is open to the public

Ryan Gore has volunteered to lead a Polar Bear Ride for the chapter. It will be an open ride so Thunder Tower and you can invite more riders along for the adventure.  Everyone is wlcome on the ride, members, non memebers, any make and model of bike.  Thunder Tower is posting the ride on their Facebook page. 

Everyone will meet at the QT on 587 Spears Creek Church Rd, Columbia, SC 29045 at 10:30am. Kick stands up promptly at 11:00am. This is the QT across the road from the road you turn down to go to TTHD.

The route will likely be from the QT to Hwy 601, then Bluff Rd, and up to Quaker Steak & Lube.  Around 51 miles.  After lunch everyone can break off and go home or ride some more.  Ryan and a couple of others have expressed interest is getting some more miles as a group after lunch.  A GPX file of the route is attached in theis calendar event.  You can also see the route at

Ryan is also doing this ride as part of the challenges that are in the HD Ride Planner app. If you haven't already, download the app to you phone and set it up. When you instal the app you will see the challenges. Click on the New Years Day challenge, which is to ride 50 miles, and enter it.  Also click on and enter the January Challenge.  Then open the app before starting the ride and choose the options to record your ride, so the miles will count in the challenge.

This is not an official HOG ride, but it'll have a great HOG member leading the way.

Open Event: This event is open to Chapter members, National H.O.G. members and other guests as desired.  All riders and passengers must sign a release. 

Impairment Policy: The consumption and use of alcohol is a serious personal responsibility involving the safety of family, riding friends and the individual HOG member. Alcohol consumption before or during a motorcycling activity is not safe, responsible behavior. Thunder Riders Chapter #2051 does not allow the use of alcohol or drugs before or during a riding event* and does not furnish alcohol at Chapter rides. Riders whose skills are observed or suspected to be impaired by alcohol or drugs before riding cannot join the ride. Riders using alcohol or drugs while riding will be asked to leave the ride. It is the responsibility of each Template Chapter member to support the consistent enforcement of this policy

Photography Policy: Photographing, filming, recording and videotaping of activities and events will be occurring Thunder Riders Chapter events. By entering the H.O.G.® event area, you irrevocably grant permission to the Harley-Davidson Motor Company® and its agents to photograph, film, record and/or videotape you and use (and authorize the use of) your name, image, likeness, voice, and/or biographical or other information in any and all media now known or hereinafter developed in perpetuity for any and all purposes.
